DESCRIPTION:Join us for another exclusive dip into the Helsinki art scene. This time\, Inside the Arts visits the atelier of Finnish artist Inka Bell.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nInka Bell (b. 1981) is a Helsinki-based visual artist who works within the expanded field of printmaking\, exploring printed images\, paper sculptures\, and public art.  \n\n\n\nHer interests lie in visual phenomena and the limitless possibilities of constructing image surfaces. Bell\, who often works in series\, brings echoes of Minimalism\, Concretism and Kinetic art into her pieces.  \n\n\n\nThrough materials\, colour\, form\, and repetition\, her works explore the relationship between the two- and three-dimensional. DESCRIPTION:We are privileged to welcome Mrs. Inna Adamovich\, President and Co-founder of STAYWITHUKRAINE Inc. from Texas USA\, to share with us firsthand stories of women now in Ukraine.\n\n\n\nRussian-born Americans\, Inna and her husband Alexander Adamovich\, have built one of the world’s most courageous humanitarian efforts through their nonprofit\, STAYWITHUKRAINE INC.\, delivering medical supplies and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. \n\n\n\nSince the start of Ukraine war\, Inna has traveled to Ukraine 19 times\, witnessing the realities faced by countless women and families. These are not stories learned from afar. They are stories Inna has seen\, heard\, and experienced herself. \n\n\n\nInna and her husband are coming to Helsinki for a few days. It will be their first time in Helsinki. SUMMARY:Ateneum | Elga Sesemann
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Ateneum\, the Finnish National Gallery\, in exploring the newly opened exhibition of Elga Sesemann’s works.  \n\n\n\nWe have a guide who takes us through the exhibition. This ends at 17.00 and then we all have time to look at more art or have a coffee in the café. Ateneum closes at 18.00.  We pay for our own ticket and Museum card is possible. The guide is on the Club.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nElga Sesemann’s (1922–2007) life story is an exceptional and interesting example of a professional woman artist making a career for herself in Finland. Sesemann and her family moved to Helsinki as evacuees from Vyborg during the Winter War. The artist’s very first solo exhibition in Helsinki\, in 1945\, immediately drew the attention of critics and the art audience. The young artist\, then 23 years old\, was a promising\, original colourist\, whose paintings were compared to those of Edvard Munch and Helene Schjerfbeck. Sesemann’s artistic oeuvre is extensive\, and she enjoyed an active career\, with her expression constantly evolving\, until the mid-1990s. \n\n\n\nText and image: Ateneum
