DESCRIPTION:Join us for another exclusive dip into the Helsinki art scene. This time\, Inside the Arts visits the atelier of Finnish artist Elina Brotherus.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nElina Brotherus is one of the most recognized contemporary artists from Scandinavia. Brotherus’ art has been alternating between autobiographical and art historical approaches. Her early series on subjective experiences gave way to works dealing with the human figure and the landscape\, the relation of the artist and the model. In her current practice she is revisiting Fluxus event scores and other written instructions for performance-oriented art of the 1950s-70s. Another recent theme is architecture: Brotherus photographs in private houses designed by important architects\, taking roles of various imagined characters. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a guided tour of the EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art\, with a welcome by Krist Gruijthuijsen\, the Director of the EMMA. This visit has been arranged in conjunction with our member\, Pauline Portheine. \n\n\n\nEMMA is an art museum that believes in the power of art to inspire and evoke a unique visual and spatial experience. It strives to foster creativity and boundary-pushing in art and design.  \n\n\n\nEMMA is Finland’s largest art museum\, with gallery space covering a total area of 6000 m2. The museum is located in the Tapiola district of Espoo in the former Weilin & Göös printing house designed by Professor Aarno Ruusuvuori (1925–1992).
