About the exhibition

The event highlights the artistic journey of Haegue Yang, a prominent contemporary artist born in Seoul in 1971, who has divided her time between Germany and Korea since the mid-1990s. Yang’s work draws inspiration from a diverse range of social, historical, and cultural environments, reflecting her relentless curiosity. Her philosophical inquiries span socio-political narratives, scientific phenomena, and anthropological perspectives, placing her at the forefront of the contemporary art world.

Renowned for her labor-intensive craft-based methods, Yang integrates various folk traditions, combining organic and synthetic materials with industrially manufactured items. Her artistic approach embraces fluidity and contradiction, transcending boundaries and offering fresh perspectives. Yang’s exhibitions are characterized by rich materiality, conceptual complexity, and an abundance of visual references, creating immersive sensory experiences in the language of visual abstraction. Overall, Haegue Yang’s work stands out for its innovative and boundary-pushing approach in the contemporary art scene.
