Join us for an exclusive visit to the studio of renowned Finnish artist Kirsti Tuokko, whose works are part of the collections at the Helsinki Art Museum HAM, the Tampere Art Museum, the Wihuri Foundation, and the Saastamoinen Foundation. Known for her innovative approach to painting, Kirsti explores themes of human behavior, fashion, and visual communication through her unique artistic process.
This intimate studio visit offers a rare opportunity to witness Kirsti’s creative space and gain insight into the ideas and techniques behind her captivating works.
Don’t miss this chance to delve into the world of an artist who merges bold experimentation with thoughtful reflections on the human experience.
Her works are deeply material-driven, often created on plexiglass, which she uses in translucent, opal, or smoke-toned variations. By painting on the reverse side of the plexiglass without viewing the front during the process, she embraces the unexpected, allowing the interplay between material and chance to guide her art. This method not only reflects her fascination with design-oriented creativity but also challenges traditional perceptions of control in painting.
Kirsti Tuokko trained as a visual arts teacher at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki and later took additional graphic and symbolic design courses at the University of California, Berkeley. Her career as an artist began just before she turned fifty and she is now represented by Forsblom gallery since 2024.
