Merkki is an open-access platform dedicated to exploring the history and current trends in media and communication. It houses a rich archive of Finnish media records spanning over a century, making it a valuable resource for research and recreation.
Merkki aims to enhance mutual understanding and encourage responsible communication. The name “Merkki” symbolizes the joint mission of its museum and archive to foster awareness of media’s evolving role in society.
The museum focuses on newspaper printing and journalism, while the archive preserves the historical records of Sanoma Corporation.
Merkki also organizes exhibitions, events, and provides access to the latest media research for all interested individuals.
